Mark One Mentoree Ritz 15 years old Nominated for a Spirit Of London Award 2009 - 8th November 2009
Mark One’s mentoring helped 15 year old Ritz, an up and coming artist make his first brand new video named: 'OLD SKOOL REMIX' which has earnt him the: Spirit Of London nomination. Ritz was also featured on London Tonight News ITV (please see above movie) and will be attending The Spirit Of London Awards on 27th November 2009.
The 'Spirit of London' awards have been created by the Damilola Taylor Trust and are backed by footballer Rio Ferdinand, actress Brooke Kinsella and the singer Lemar to name just a few. In many cases, the nominees have turned their lives around so much so they have become role models for others.

Mark One's 'Brand Awareness' Workshop at Leyton Sixth Form College's Media Day Event - Wednesday 4th November 2009

A BIG THANK YOU, to Alistair Wardill the Media Course Head for inviting Mark One and Sarkey One back to talk to Leyton Sixth Form College students on Media Day which is held once a year to give students the exposure to people working in the media industry.
Mark One delivered a thought provoking insight and overview on the importance of brands in today’s world and the value of understanding how to communicate brand propositions by utilising the multiple platforms of media.
"We ran two three hour sessions with two different groups of students. Based on the immediate feedback we received from the students the Brand Workshops were highly successful. Understanding the importance of brands is the blue print to understanding media and these students absorbed everything, It was a joy to lecture them!" said Mark One.

Uriah Smith & Jahnoi Cranston Recite Poetry at UCL for Black History Month, Mark One's Mentorees - Monday 26th October 2009

On the 26th October, (UCL) University College London's African and Caribbean Society held a night to celebrate black history month. This night was hosted by the universities prestigious student union in the heart of Central London. Alongside an array of Musicians, Singers and public speakers poets such as: Uriah Smith and Jahnoi Cranston were asked to recite their poetry.
The audience were blown away by the age of Jahnoi, (sixteen) who took to the stage and wowed the audience with his conscious and powerful thought provoking which left them stunned and hanging on every word!
Uriah, delivered two very intense thought provoking pieces using the emblem of a large semi-automatic gun on his jumper as part of his story telling art of misdirection which led the audience down a path of surprise on this unexpected journey.
Also performing on the same stage was singer and writer, Ryan Koriya who after mentioned in a short speech that he was able to fully relate to both poets as he had gone through similar situations and life experiences.
Mark One currently mentors Uriah Smith and Jahnoi Cranston.

Motivational Talk at Mitchell Brook Primary School for Black History Month - Wednesday 21st October 2009

Mark One was honoured when asked to deliver a motivational talk to 10 - 11 year olds at Mitchell Brook Primary School based in London, Willesden. The students were very enthusiastic with question after question about Mark One's career path and future plans. "These pupils are inspirational, they are our future and our future is bright!" said Mark One after the bombardment of thought provoking questions from the bright youngsters.
We would like to thank Beverly Gordon because without her, the Black History Months event would not have been possible and for asking us in to talk to the students…not to forget the rice n peas, curry chicken and plantain! Big thanks to Mrs Yvonne Mills for looking after us and presenting Mark One with two certificates. Big thanks to Sarkey One!

Mark One interviewed on stage at the 2009 Woodson Barrow Role Model Luncheon organised & hosted by C-A-N-i CEO Ken Barnes - Saturday 10th October 2009

When Mark One received an email requesting support for the 2009 Woodson Barrow Role Model Luncheon, there was no choice but to get involved. The Woodson Barrow Role Model Luncheon is a great event created by Ken BarnesCEO of C-A-N-i. The three-year old event held in London, Docklands at the Marriott Hotel focused on our young adult generation ensuring that they have the opportunity to meet accomplished professionals from a variety of industries, in a role model capacity, and ask questions on their career path.

Mark One made a financial donation towards the event and also donated his time to be a role model for the young adults in attendance. “It was truly humbling experience for me when Ken Barnes requested I be the role model to the two young adult interviewers who would interview me on stage as a key component of the event! Their questions were great!” said Mark One.
Mark One screened his current show-reel at the event and the audience showed their appreciation with a warm round of applause, which was very much appreciated!

The Hebe Foundation - The Junior Apprentice, Motivational Talk - Monday 10th August 2009
A BIG THANK YOU! from all at Mark One to Petrova Lewis of The Hebe Foundation for asking Mark One to be the guest motivational speaker at The Junior Apprentice event held in Wansworth on 10th August 2009. Lawson Joseph of Lawson Technologies who was also a guest speaker at the event gave an inspiring account of his work and business ethics that stands as an example to us all.
Based on the hit television show, The Junior Apprentice is a competition to find the best Junior Apprentice in London. The young people aged 12 – 21years battle it out through a series of team challenges that will develop, teach and inspire each individual to bring out the talents each one has.
"It was an honour to be a part of The Young Apprentice 2009. I am inspired by The Hebe Foundation's commitment to ensure the future of young adults is positive, progressive and based on the understanding of business. We look forward to seeing who the winner is and helping the Hebe Foundation in any way that we can in the future," said Mark One.

Fairlop Primary School - Shine Week - Communication Day - Wednesday 8th July 2009
Fairlop Primary School's Assistant Head Mrs. D Walters asked Mark One and Jahnoi Cranston to be part of Shine Week, which is a week in the school calendar, which celebrates pupils with hidden talents. "The talent was exceptional, Fairlop School should be proud of their students and it was an honour to be a part of their communication day," said Mark One who critiqued each performer and delivered a motivational speech as well as sharing his achievements with the school.
Jahnoi Cranston delivered an outstanding poem, which magically captivated the young audience and had them screaming at the top of their voices! Mark One's motivational speech about the importance of staying focused and achieving your dreams engaged the audience who stared in wonder as he revealed his BAFTA! "We cannot stress enough the importance of role models having the opportunity to reach 5 to 11 year old children. This opportunity gave us the opportunity for them to inspire us and for us to inspire them which is what motivational speaking is about," reported Mark One as he reflected on the morning.

The BBAF's 'The Filmmakers' Event Held At The BBC With Host Danny John-Jules - Tuesday 23rd June 2009
We would like to thank the BBAF for hosting another inspirational event at the BBC and asking Mark One to be the opening speaker at the event. The over subscribed event was fantastic which in our opinion is largely down to the enthusiastic audience.
Mark One was joined by guest speakers: Pravesh Kumar the Artistic Director of Rifco Arts who has produced national and international work for Theatre, Film and Video over the past 12 years and who is also recognised as a successful Producer, Director and Writer. Also joining Mark One was Louise Decoteau and award-winning Director Alrick Riley (The Cops, Hustle, Spooks and Hotel Babylon) of Cinnamon Films.
Thank you to all the young people that spoke to Mark One after the event, it was really encouraging to see so much talent and energy networking. It was great to meet Danny John-Jules an on screen icon and Charles Thompson CEO of Screen Nation, both heroes of ours. Big thank you to the BBAF once again.

Talk & Briefing Hackney College Media Students, For The Robert Levy Foundation Movie Image, Summer Project
Last year, as a member of The Robert Levy Foundation Mark One along side the foundation set a short film brief for the media students at Hackney Community College to create three short films which would be screened in front of a captive audience at The Robert Levy Annual Event held at the Ocean in Hackney. The three films produced last year were incredible and exceeded all expectations. This year, Mark One visited Hackney Community College and once again is expecting more incredible movies to be screened at the annual event this year held at The Hackney Empire.

Red Bee Media & Virgin Re-brand Virgin1 TV
Mark (Walters) One had the important role of Design Director as well as being a member of the team at Red Bee Media responsible for the new re-brand of Virgin1. Mark had his hands full on set when trying to direct the newly appointed RED at the onscreen presentation shoot in North London.
Virgin1’s new brand was launched on Wednesday 10th June 2009 with a host of new elements. Make sure you tune in and keep up to date with RED’s movements. “RED is a total professional- a natural, a joy to work with but only once he’d let go of my tie and allowed me to direct him!” said Mark after RED gave him the run down on best camera angles!
