Synopsis

After Effects deals with a reality no mother expects to ever experience, the news she never dreamt of hearing. Uncompromising, unflinching, unexpected After Effects stares down the face of an evil/enemy/crisis/epidemic that threatens to engulf an entire generation leaving pain, anguish and hurt in its wake.

Background

In 2006, the 19 year old boyfriend of Mark One’  eldest niece was murdered. On the day of the murder, Mark One arrived to see mother after mother including his own, in floods of tears, collapsing with the emotions of the loss of a child. In 2007, the 13 year-old brother of Mark One’s youngest niece was arrested for murder, his mother also filled with the pain of death, erupted into what seemed like an ever flowing flood of tears. Again in 2007, a close friend’s relative aged 16 was murdered visiting the cinema. This reoccurring nightmare of destruction, which impacts families and friends, drove Mark One to action and After Effects was conceived.

We live in the After Effects of murder and must do everything we can within our power to bring about change, a change in the mindset of those who resort to guns and knives to resolve conflict.

On a cold evening night in the UK, London, West End, Soho the private premiere of After Effects and I AM WHO? took place. The premiere was organised by Mark One Group and from the out set was an over whelming success.

b

The beautiful Soho Hotel venue in the heart of the West End, 100 seat screening room was initially booked for an hour to screen the films. It soon became apparent that the hour was not enough and an extra two hours would be needed to accommodate 300 plus people that wanted to come out and see the films.

The Robert Levy Foundation and Tom Easton Flavasum Trust attended the event, which was an honour to have them with Mark One Group on the night. Without their support After Effects would not have been possible. Young Jahnoi Cranston and his family were also in attendance to see for the first time I AM WHO? The event was an over whelming experience for the Cranston family, to see young Jahnoi’s poem brought to life, in such a cinematic way on the big screen in the West End was beyond all expectations.

b

"The event was an over whelming success way beyond my comprehension. Everyone enjoyed the location took onboard the serous message behind After Effects and was inspired by I AM WHO?. As a film maker people wanting to come out and see your work is all you want to be over subscribe is a fantastic problem to have" said the director Mark One.

Mark One delivered a riveting talk to introduce After Effects before the screening and set the scene and background behind why the film is so important in today’s world. "I am a strong believer in the message of movies, they have influence the way humans communicate from the birth of the media. Our youngster’s watch a lot of movie image from a variety of platforms. Internet, TV, mobile phones, i-pods, i-pads, i-phones, PS3’s, XBOX etc and a well told anti gun, knife moving image piece will open up the debate and focus the mind on what we need to do to help affected change in our younger generation” said Mark One.
