Smile for London Presents Word in Motion
6th September 2011
We LOVE London. Smile for London was born from the desire to use the art of moving image to cheer up recession beaten Tube commuters and encourage Londoners to love their capital again.
With the same passion to bolster London’s spirits during difficult times, smile for london is launching Word in Motion (WiM) in response to the London youth riots. WiM gives young people growing up in urban areas the opportunity to see their poetry and voice animate across the screens on the Underground. Working with BAFTA winning film maker and anti gun and knife crime motivational speaker Mark One, the Smile team will be encouraging young people, via their youth networks, to write a 40 word piece of poetry that presents a personal inspiration that counters the expressions of frustration and neglect seen across the UK.
The entries will be judged by Mark One, along with a panel of renowned writers and poets. Submissions should be emailed in writing to word@smileforlondon.com and vocally as an mp3 recording of their recital. The deadline for submission is 5th October 2011.
The films will be exhibited across the London Underground XTP screens for two weeks at the beginning of November, lauching three months to the day since the riots took place.

Mark One Group are proud members of The Robert Levy Foundation and were honoured to support the Robert Levy Foundation Gala, facilitated and hosted by the Baroness Newlove at the House of Lords. The gala's main objectives were to raise funds that will go towards a number of initiatives and summer programs RLF run within the community.

"As a member of The Robert Levy Foundation getting Mark One Group involved in supporting the Robert Levy Foundation Gala was a pleasure and a duty. Our role in the event was to create a brand that was fitting for the House of Lords which included all the support online and print material leading up to the event, the evening’s brochure, table plans, onscreen presentations and 2 short films about why the RLF was started and the work they do in the community. The great success of the evening was testimony to everyone involved in making the event happen and a real highlight for the foundation," said Mark One.
