Mark One Talk to Students @ Lampton School for Black History Month

Nathaniel Levy invited Mark One to Lampton High School to deliver a motivational talk that would inspire the students as part of Black History month. The audience was receptive and intrigued as Mark One delivered a motivational talk about his career path, which included winning a Bafta, and his creative body of work to date.



“It is always inspiring when young adults take on board what I have to say and apply some of my principles to their lives. This talk was special to me because the feedback was instantaneous, I could see the young adults changing in front of me with the realisation that they can be anything they want to be with a little hard work.” said Mark One.

Mark One was honoured when asked for the third year running by Mrs Gooch, (Head of Sixth Form) to deliver a motivation talk at Langley Park High School to Sixth Form Students as part of Black History Month.

"It is always a pleasure to talk at Langley High, the students are always so receptive to the information. I never started out as a speaker for Black History Month but I take the role on humbly and respectfully." said Mark One.

Mark One Key Note Speaker 'Junior Apprentice Grand Finale' at All Souls Club House, London, UK.

Mark One was honored when asked to be Key Note Speaker by Petrova Lewis from The Hebe Foundation for the Junior Apprentice Grand Finale 2010. The Junior Apprentice inspired by the television show is a competition to find the best Junior Apprentice in London. Young people aged 13 – 18yrs battle it out through a series of team challenges that will develop, teach, inspire each individual and bring out the talents each one has. The ultimate winner of each area heats then compete for the title of London wide Junior Apprentice.

Mark One delivered a riveting talk to all the competitors involved, which was very inspiring and motivational. "Your talk has made me even more determined to put in the hard work, to be successful in a creative career" said one of the finalists.

Mark One’s Talk for the Robert Levy Foundation to St Thomas More School, Wood Green, North London, UK
30th July 2010

Mark One and Sarkey One took a trip to Wood Green, North London, UK, to St Thomas More School to deliver a talk for the Robert Levy Foundation's to the students about staying focused during the summer holiday’s, to avoid negative influences. "Our youngster are the most precious and valuable thing we have, and staying safe and away from gun and knife crime is everything,” said Mark One. Mark One was joined by up and coming full of talent and energy Shauna 'MC Angel' that delivered a moving message about the implications of leaving messages on facebook and making songs for the internet that content is negative which may develop into situations on the streets that could be life threatening. Big thanks to Shauna she is fantastic.

Mark One Talk & Briefing @ Hackney Community College, Robert Levy Foundation Summer Media Project
21st May 2010

Mark One and Sarkey One took a trip to Hackney, East London, UK, to Hackney Community College to deliver a talk and briefing for the Robert Levy Foundation's Media Summer Course. This is the third year running that Mark One a member of Robert Levy Foundation, with the help of Anna Johnson Media coordinator at Hackney Community College, has run the summer course.

Each year the students have to deliver 3 to 4 films based around the theme of the Robert Levy Foundations annual event held at either The Hackney Empire or the Ocean, in front of at captive audience of over 2000 people in September. "This year I believe the students will raise the bar higher than past years as we have opened the film brief up" said Mark One.

Mark One was honoured to be part of 'Industry Day' held at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, Elmstead Woods, Kent, UK on Friday 23rd April. Mark One kicked off the day as Guest lecture: Mark Walters, Head of Design Virgin Media TV,
Cross - Discipline Collaboration. Mark One's talk entitled 'From Education To Head Vocation' dealt with focus, teamwork, long-term objectives, his current job role and responsibilities at Virgin Media TV, his entrepreneur approach to media and the future of media.

Carrie Wootten (in purple top), Ravenbourne Digital Creative Industries Network Manager chaired the debate called, Cross - Discipline Collaboration: New Opportunities In TV'. The panel was made up of television industries experienced professionals, left to right, Mark One Virgin Media TV, Carrie Wootten from Ravenbourne, Dean Stockton from Chello Media, Richard Thompson from Tiger, and Adrian Hon from Six to Start.

“Ravensbourne’s students all had pens a note pads and were constantly making notes at both the sessions I was involved in” said Mark One. “This is a sign of a great design institution, students that have a thirst to learn, and questions to gain understanding to deliver their creative ideas. Before I left two students stopped me and asked me the best way to copy write a format they had developed, these are the creative minds of tomorrow in my opinion, it was a joy to lecture them”.

A BIG THANK YOU, to Alistair Wardill Media Course Head for inviting Mark One and Sarkey One back to talk to Leyton Sixth Form College students on Media Day, held once a year to give students exposure to people in the media industry.

Mark One delivered a thought provoking insight and overview on the importance of brands in today’s world, and the value of understanding how to communicate brand propositions utilising the multiple platforms of media.

"We ran two three hour sessions with two different groups of students. The Brand Workshops were highly successful based on the immediate feedback we received from the students. Understanding the importance of brands is the blue print to understanding media, these student absorbed everything, It was a joy to lector them!" said Mark One.

"It was great to talk to an audience of over 200 pupils that were extremely receptive for half an hour. The questions the students asked demonstrated that they are young thinking adults with a thirst for information, which is great to see' said Mark One.

Motivational Talk at Mitchell Brook Primary School for Black History Month

Mark One was honoured when asked to deliver a motivational talk to 10 - 11 year olds at Mitchell Brook Primary School based in London, Willesden. The students were very enthusiastic with question after question about Mark One's career path and future plans. "These pupils are inspirational, they are our future and our future is bright" said Mark One after the bombardment of questions from the bright youngsters.

We would like to thank Beverly Gordon because without her, the Black History Months event would not have been possible and getting us in to talk to the students, also for the rice n peas, curry chicken and plantain! Big thanks to Mrs Yvonne Mills for looking after us and presenting Mark One with two certificates. Big thanks to Sarkey One!

The Hebe Foundation - The Junior Apprentice, Motivational Talk

A big THANK YOU! from all at Mark One to Petrova Lewis of The Hebe Foundation for asking Mark One to be the guest motivational speaker at The Junior Apprentice event held in Wansworth on 10th August 2009. Lawson Joseph of Lawson Technologies also a guest speaker at the event gave an inspiring account of his work and buisness ethics that stands as an example to us all.

Based on the hit television show, The Junior Apprentice is a competition to find the best Junior Apprentice in London. The young people aged 12 – 21yrs battle it out through a series of team challenges that will develop, teach, inspire each individual and bring out the talents each one has.

"It was an honour to be a part of The Young Apprentice 2009. I am inspired by The Hebe Foundation's commitment to ensure the future of young adults is positive, progressive and based on the understanding of business. We look forward to seeing who the winner is and to helping the Hebe Foundation in any way that we can in the future" said Mark One.

Fairlop Primary School - Shine Week - Communication Day
8th July 2009

Fairlop Primary School's assistant head Mrs. D Walters asked Mark One and Jahnoi Cranston to be part of Shine Week, the week in which the school celebrates pupils with hidden talents. "The talent was exceptional, Fairlop School should be proud of their students it was an honour to be a part of communication day" said Mark One.

Jahnoi Cranston delivered an outstanding poem that captivated the young audience and had them screaming at the top of their voices. Mark One delivered a motivational speech about the importance of staying focused and achieving your dreams. "We cannot stress enough the importance of role models, having the opportunity to reach 5 to 11 yearsold children, for them to inspire us and us to inspire them is what motivational speaking is about," said Mark One.

Talk & Briefing Hackney College Media Students, For The Robert Levy Foundation Movie Image, Summer Project
June 2009

As a member of The Robert Levy Foundation last year, Mark One along side the foundation set a short film brief for the media students at Hackney Community College to create three short films, to be screened in front of a captive audience at The Robert Levy Annual Event held at the Oceans in Hackney, the three films produced exceeded all expectations. This year Mark One visited Hackney Community College once again and is expecting more incredible movies to be screened at the annual event this time held at The Hackney Empire. Watch this space.
